Os métodos de ensino de alta pressão de Xu Wenhui e o estresse competitivo dos exames de admissão à faculdade levam sua filha ao colapso e quase ao desespero. Xu Wenhui sente um remorso profundo por causa disso: ela acreditava que tudo que fazia era para o benefício de sua filha, em vez disso, só causou dor e mágoa à sua filha. É quando sua antiga colega de classe Fang Xinping prega o evangelho de Deus a ela.
