Para garantir que sua filha Jiarui seja capaz de passar no vestibular e entrar numa universidade boa, Xu Wenhui decide se demitir de seu emprego como diretora de vendas para acompanhar Jiarui em seus estudos para repetir o vestibular. Os métodos de ensino de alta pressão de Xu Wenhui e o estresse competitivo dos exames de admissão à faculdade levam sua filha ao colapso e quase ao desespero.
